Project Overview
Overstreet replaced the existing loop-fed 6.9 kV distribution system with a new 15 kV distribution system and installed a new 100 MVA power transformer in the existing substation.
The work required a complex construction sequence using new and existing pad-mounted switches to replace medium-voltage cabling in stages, re-tapping existing transformers during numerous scheduled outages in sequential order.
Scope Highlights
- New 15 kV cable, duct banks, street crossings, concrete and asphalt saw cutting, demolition and patching
- Pre-cast manholes, cable racking, insulators, cable fireproofing and grounding counterpoise
- Concrete-encased duct banks, terminations, load-break and dead-break elbows
- Re-tapped existing pad-mounted and unit substation transformers
- Replaced switchboards, panelboards and dry-type transformers in more than 60 buildings
Outcomes
- Delivered across 60 buildings without service interruption
Legacy project performed by the predecessor firm, Overstreet Electric Co., Inc.
